Papers, 1814-1907, of the Lambert and Sheetz families of Augusta and Shenandoah counties. Include papers of Daniel H. Lambert, Staunton, Va. including his orders as a conscript in the Confederate Army in 1864 and his Oath of Allegiance to the United States in July 1865. Also include letters received by James and Joseph L. Sheetz, Woodstock, Shenandoah County and a single page extra newspaper issued by The Valley Virginian at the time of the riot, 3 November 1883,in Danville, Va.

Notebook of law notes by an unknown author.  First page notes, "Bacons Abridgement."  The inside back cover has an index to an unknown item which notes court information for Augusta, Rockingham and Rockbridge Counties, Virginia.

Minute books, 1815-1857, of the New Shenandoah Company, Port Republic, Rockingham Co., Va. The company was organized to open the Shenandoah River and its branches to navigation. Includes a printed copy of the company's charter, and a letter, 16 March 1856, from a stockholder.

Ledgers, 1835-1843 and 1866-1873, of a farmer kept in Rockingham County, Va. The earlier account book includes accounts with free blacks [William Wanser and William Cook (formerly W. Canada)].

Papers, 1886-1923, of L. S. Rhodes and Sons, Linnville, Rockingham County, Va. Chiefly accounts with suppliers, local producers, manufacturers, and wholesale houses, but including bank statements, canceled checks, tax and license receipts. Consists of 5,810 items and about 100 manuscript volumes.

The ledgers are stored off-site and require a 72 hour notice for retrieval.

Journals (A and B) and daybooks (C and D), 1888-1893, of Rhodes & Speck, merchants, of Athens and Edom, [Rockingham County], Va.

Receipt book, 1833, of Hiram Martz, Smith's Creek, Rockingham County, Va. for road claims and county levies allowed by the county court of Rockingham County. The volume includes notes and household inventory, 1855, of Benjamin Franklin Matthews Martz.

This collection consists of three tintype photographs of unidentified men and women from Rockingham County, Virginia in the mid-to-late 19th century. One of the photographs is of a young man in uniform.

Three ledgers and one inventory book (Memorandum Book of Stock on Hand) of an unknown merchant.  All are undated and written in pencil.  Per the 1920 census, many of the names in these books are from Rockingham County, Virginia.

The John W. Rodeffer Papers are a collection of letters to John W. Rodeffer. Correspondents include family members including his mother and sister, various female friends, male friends, and others. The letters include accounts of daily life and similar information from the 1890s-1900.
